Ana Candioti is a acclaimed Argentine-American visual artist, born in the city of Buenos Aires (July 9, 1944). Portraitist, muralist and researcher, she developed a solid academic background, won several awards and held exhibitions internationally. Historically from 1975 to the present, Ana is “the great master of social realism”, portraying the ethnic groups and native peoples of the American continent and other regions of the world.
For this reason her work is considered “museum-worthy”, a faithful portrait of the mixture of current humanity. Ana captures the essence of the people, investigating their culture and lifestyle, developing her own style under the concept of Art and Testimony. According to the Argentine art critic Rafael Squirru: - Recalling muralism as the first pictorial movement originated in this continent, Candioti inherits the mastery of the Mexican muralists and his compatriot Antonio Berni.
- I channel what the environment gives me, sensorially, and when I process all that, I feel the urgent need to project it outside... so, from a very young age, I filled myself with the faces of people who, when they came to life in my imagination, I painted them wherever I went.
She captures the soul of her portrayed, which captivates the intelligent observer who manages to enter the work, tasting its rich encrypted social message. Important private and public collections possess Ana Candioti's work.
